The regional government invested over 400,000 euros in the recovery of old Ricote (06/02/2011)

The Ministry of Public Works and Land Management will invest a total of 408,000 euros in the recovery of old Ricote, which has outlined a comprehensive rehabilitation area (ARI) in the current Regional Housing Plan 2009-2012, and also extends into the neighborhoods of Los Pasos, Algezar and Cemetery.

The Director General of Planning and Housing, Antonio Navarro, said that "from the regional government is pushing this type of projects with high social returns, since many families can directly access funds to rehabilitate their homes. In addition, all residents of the municipality can also enjoy the design of public spaces that include these projects. "

Thus, rehabilitated a total of 60 homes with a predominance of the traditional architecture of the region that, in most cases, have two floors for housing and a third that was originally used as storage for drying garden produce and livestock .

The location of this property corresponds to a provision of Arabic origin with narrow streets and winding route that follows the topography of the slope.

Within the area bounded listed buildings are located and architectural interest, "which highlights the importance of acting in the area to maintain the best conditions the old environment," noted Antonio Navarro.

The project involves the adequacy of public spaces in the four areas of performance, to upgrade urban services and improve street paving.

"With the recovery work associated with this Comprehensive Rehabilitation Area will encourage the setting of the historic center of Ricote, where buildings are located as representative as the Church of San Sebastian, the House of the Knights, the Palace of the Alvarez Castellanos or than traditional homes, as part of its architectural heritage, "he said Navarro.

The initiative stems from a collaboration agreement between the Autonomous Region, the Ministry of Public Works and the City of Ricote, in the proceedings of the Regional Housing Plan 2009-2012.
